Foton Motor Showcases Expanded Global Portfolio at Beijing 2023 Partner Summit
Beijing served as the host city for the Foton Global Partners Conference 2023, held April 11–14 under the banner “TOGETHER WIN FUTURE.” The event brought together more than 66 key distributors representing 55 nations, underscoring Foton’s growing international footprint.
Visitors to the exhibition floor were treated to Foton’s comprehensively refreshed vehicle lineup. On display were a full spectrum of offerings spanning medium- and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, pickups, vans, mini-trucks, and buses—available in both traditional internal combustion and new energy configurations. Supporting these products are strategic alliances with leading industry names: Foton operates joint ventures with engine specialist Cummins and transmission powerhouse ZF, while maintaining a strategic partnership with battery giant CATL.
Foton’s expansion strategy is delivering measurable results across multiple markets. In Colombia, the manufacturer has claimed the second position in truck sales for three straight years, with particular strength in automated manual transmission (AMT) heavy-duty models. Meanwhile, the Philippines has embraced Foton’s 7.5-ton light-duty truck, which has dominated sales charts in its segment for three consecutive years.
Central to Foton’s future-facing approach is its “ICE+BEV” dual-line strategy, which balances conventional powertrains with battery-electric solutions. Since 2003, Foton has invested heavily in homegrown “three-electric” core technologies encompassing pure electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell systems. This commitment is paying dividends internationally: Foton’s all-electric buses have earned EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certification and are now making inroads in Italy, Poland, and Spain.
The numbers tell a compelling story in Latin America. By the end of 2022, Foton had delivered over 1,400 pure electric buses across the region—securing the highest market share of any OEM in that category.
