Foton Pickup Trucks Strengthen Market Leadership Across Africa with Record Sales Surge

NAIROBI, Kenya — Foton Motor, one of China’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced a milestone year in Africa as its pickup truck line achieved record-breaking sales across major markets including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Tanzania. The company disclosed that cumulative sales have grown by double digits for the third consecutive year, solidifying Foton’s position as one of the fastest-growing automotive brands on the continent.

According to regional management, the strong performance has been driven by Foton’s commitment to product durability, fuel efficiency, and adaptability to Africa’s varied terrains. The latest Foton Tunland and View Pickup Series have been praised for their upgraded chassis, reinforced suspension systems, and powerful engines designed for both commercial and personal use.

“We see Africa not only as a market, but as a long-term strategic partner,” said Li Zheng, Vice President of Foton Overseas Division. “Our engineering teams study local road and usage conditions extensively, ensuring that our pickup trucks deliver reliability even in the most demanding environments.”

In East Africa, Foton pickups have gained particular traction in agriculture, construction, and logistics industries, where users value heavy-duty capability and low maintenance costs. Dealerships in Kenya and Uganda reported an increase in bulk orders, especially from fleet buyers seeking durable transportation solutions that can withstand rugged rural roads.

West African markets have also seen substantial growth. In Nigeria, Foton’s sales were supported by a strengthened distribution network and the introduction of localized after-sales services, including spare parts warehousing and mobile service vans. “Customer trust is built on service accessibility,” said Emeka Okwu, General Manager of Foton Nigeria. “We are expanding our technical support presence to match the rapid adoption of our pickup line.”

In Southern Africa, the company has launched training programs for local technicians, supporting skills development and deeper integration with local communities. Foton’s sustainability initiatives also extend to exploring renewable energy vehicle solutions, with pilot projects already underway.

With growing demand for reliable and cost-effective mobility solutions, Foton plans to introduce additional pickup models tailored specifically for African users. The company aims to expand assembly partnerships, boost service coverage, and deepen investments in regional logistics systems.
