Foton Delivers 312 Buses to Madagascar: Africa’s Largest Public Transit Fleet Upgrade

Antananarivo, Madagascar — Foton Motor has completed the handover of 312 medium-sized buses to the Republic of Madagascar — one of the largest single deliveries of public transport vehicles from a Chinese manufacturer to the African continent. The fleet is already in service across Antananarivo, Toamasina, and Antsirabe.

The order represents a landmark in China-Madagascar industrial cooperation. Madagascar’s Ministry of Transport described the arrival of the fleet as marking a “historic upgrade in the nation’s public transit system,” praising Foton for its professionalism, product quality, and long-term commitment.

Key features include reinforced chassis with fuel-efficient diesel engines; optimized passenger capacity balancing seating and standing space; ABS braking and enhanced structural integrity; upgraded shock absorbers, ergonomic seating, and low-step entry design for accessibility.

Local transport operators and bus associations have responded positively since the fleet entered service. Follow-up orders are reportedly under discussion, reflecting the operational trust the fleet has earned.
